Professional Dental Cleaning
What is a professional dental cleaning?
A professional dental cleaning is similar to a regular scale & polish. This treatment includes removing hard calculus and soft biofilm from the teeth, and polishing.
Why do I need a professional dental cleaning?
Even if your oral hygiene is excellent, there are some hard-to-reach areas in the mouth that can retain plaque. This in turn can lead to inflammation of the gums and potentially periodontal disease.
A professional cleaning is a great way to monitor gum health and to prevent gum disease.

How often do I need a professional cleaning?
The frequency of dental cleanings varies from person to person. Depending on your personal oral hygiene skills, mineral content of your saliva and other factors, you might need a professional dental cleaning every 3 – 12 months.
What will happen during the appointment?
Your dentist or hygienist will assess your gum health and plaque levels. They will also ask about your home cleaning routine and offer suggestions on how to improve, if necessary.
They will then remove hard calculus with ultrasonic and hand instruments, remove stains with air-flow and then polish the teeth with a special paste.
What is air-flow?
Our Air-Flow treatment is designed to remove simple tooth staining caused by red wine, tea, coffee and smoking. Although this treatment is not a tooth whitening therapy, it will significantly brighten your teeth and leave your mouth feeling fresh and clean.
This full mouth detox therapy works by projecting tiny sodium bicarbonate particles and water with high pressure onto the surface and in between the teeth.
Air-flow can be used as prior to whitening treatment and is a revolutionary treatment to ensure the maintenance of a healthy radiant smile.
